The TrackIt system is used by Scientific Affairs Management to track employee cost in the product development cycle.  By providing this information, managers can obtain an accurate picture of the amount of time spent on various activities and products.  Reports can be generated by cost center, activity, project, and product.  Product information can be extracted by family, individual product, and project within a product.

The system consists of two main modules.  The first is the data entry module where users enter their activity on each product. The second module is the administrator’s module. The administrator’s module generates management reports that calculate the labor cost of: activities, product families, products, and projects. In addition the system can compile the figures by cost center for each of the above categories, giving a complete and comprehensive picture of where labor dollars are being spent. 

The product can be customized according for each company’s needs. Many custom reports and graphs can be written to satisfy management’s ever-changing requirements. Management can see: 

• How employees spend their time arranged by Family, Product and Protocols.
• Costs associated with employee activities and a summary by several categories.
• Dynamic views and reports by any date range using two on-line forms.
• Several built-in statistical reports and graphs to improve decision making.

TrackIt maintains the Employee, Family, Product, and Protocol Tables. Some of this information such as hourly rates and budget amounts are confidential. After updates to any of these tables, TrackIt has a function to extract non-confidential data and export these new tables for use by Activity.

Each employee is assigned an hourly rate that is used in calculating costs for Family, Products and Protocols. These costs can be compared to budget totals that are maintained for each category. Reports can be generated by using the Reports Statistics form to show how much time and cost is associated with the Family, Products and Protocols. The Report Statistics form provides for generating totals for any date range and in seven different categories.
